Focus for the Alberta Select Show and Sale

We feel it is time we thanked and rewarded our reliable commercial Charolais bull buyers. This is why our main focus for our Alberta Select Show and Sale is to thank our past bull buyers and give them a chance to win a $10,000.00 Alberta Bull shown at our event.

Be part of the exciting times in the Alberta Charolais world

The demand for Charolais genetics is on the increase with higher prices for bulls and a renewed desire for heavier calves. The Alberta Charolais Association believes it has come up with an idea to help all the Alberta breeders that register and transfer the Charolais bulls they sell.

Every commercial producer who purchased a Charolais bull and had the bull transferred to them since January 1, 2010 will receive a letter giving them a chance to win a free Charolais bull at the Alberta select bull show and sale. The event will take place at the Agri center in Red Deer on December 2nd and 3rd, 2011. The commercial producer whose name is drawn will pick from bulls that are entered in the competition at the event. The purebred producer whose bull is picked receives $10,000.00 after he keeps the bull until April 1, 2012 and delivers the bull free of charge to the commercial producer with a satisfactory semen test and soundness evaluation. The draw is free to every commercial producer who bought a Charolais bull and had it transferred in their name since January 1, 2010.

The second exciting part of this event will be another $10,000.00 given away to someone who buys a $100.00 ticket and has their name drawn. They will get to pick from all the bulls entered in the competition.

Purebred producers are encouraged to bring any age of bull they like and will be eligible for both draws. There will be a pen of 3 show and a single bull show for calendar year bulls with $5000.00 worth of cash and prizes. The show will be judged by 6 commercial cattlemen. The bulls older than the current calendar year will be paraded before the crowd as long as they are entered in the competition and are eligible to be picked in the draws.

  • The bulls entered do not need to be halter broke, clipped, or washed.
  • The entry fee will be $200.00 for a single bull and $500 for a pen of three.
  • The entry fee for bulls older than the calendar year bulls that breeders want to put on display, will not be eligible for the cash prizes, will be $500.00

Purebred Charolais breeders wanting to put up a display without bringing any cattle, can purchase a 10 x 10 area for $500.00
